Shabbat Services at WRT

Kabbalat Shabbat

  • Our Shabbat evening service is held each Friday at 7:45pm in the Temple’s main sanctuary and features the rituals, melodies, and warmth that our congregants have long cherished. The service includes a reading from the weekly Torah portion and a sermon or presentation by one of our rabbis or a special guest.  At the conclusion of prayer, our Oneg Shabbat provides worshippers with a wonderful setting for sharing stories and greetings in the joy of Shabbat.  During the summer months services are held at 6:15pm and are held in the Center for Jewish Life (CJL) across the driveway from the main sanctuary.
  • The first Friday Service of each month will begin at 6:15 pm. All other weeks (2nd, 3rd and 4th week) will begin at 7:45pm. Please check the calendar for changes in times due to shabbat services with special programming.
  • A CD featuring the music of Shabbat at WRT is available from the main office for anyone who would like to become more familiar with our service, or alternatively the music is available in mp3 format on our music page.
    • Tot Shabbat: Fridays once a month at 5:30 PM (except during summer) for our youngest members and their families (check calendar for specific dates)

    Shabbat Morning Services

    • Shabbat Morning Torah Study and Minyan Saturdays, 9:00–11:00 AM.  Each Shabbat morning we gather informally to read and discuss the week’s Torah portion.  The group is led by volunteers, with Rabbi Blake’s participation.  Visiting scholars periodically add their own insights as they lead the lively discussion. The morning ends with a brief Shabbat service.  No prior experience with Torah is necessary; just come as you are, with an open mind!
    • Sharing Shabbat Family Service and Torah Study, Saturdays, 9:00–11:00 AM in the Center for Jewish Life.  Sharing Shabbat is a family worship and education program. The morning opens with a participatory service including Torah reading. After an Oneg Shabbat, the group separates, with children aged three to ten going to age-appropriate classes and the adults joining for study.
    • Shabbat Morning Services are held Saturdays at 10:45 AM in the main sanctuary on weeks when B’nei Mitzvah are celebrated.

    Shabbat Afternoon Services

Shabbat Afternoon Services are held Saturdays at 5:00 PM in September, October, March, April, May, and June, and at 4:00 PM in November through February, on weeks when B’nei Mitzvah are celebrated in the afternoon.  Services conclude with Havdalah.

Kaddish is offered at each of our Shabbat services for anyone who would like to commemorate a loved one.
